Abstract
Reading is the ability to take in the meaning of written or printed materials, such as books, magazines, newspaper, texts. The focus of this research is the process of learning English especially reading comprehension in the classroom by using technology. Furthermore, in this technological era, students must follow the technological development. This research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ reading achievement by using Mangatoon application to develop students’ achievement in reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 2 Pagedangan. The research used quasi experimental. This research took the subjects of 40 students from each class. The class selected was based on the experimental class in VIII-7 was given the treatment of learning English using the Mangatoon
application and VIII-8 as the control class which applied conventional methods to its learning. Based on hypothesis test found that t-count (2.11) t-table (1.99) Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. It means there are improvement of students’
achievement in reading comprehension after being thaught through Mangatoon application. Therefore, Mangatoon application can be an alternative method to support the learning activity of students' reading comprehension
