Abstract

Listening comprehension is vital for effective communication in both professional
and social contexts. To enhance this skill, educators frequently explore diverse
methods and media. This study examines the use of YouTube videos by The Wizard
Liz to improve listening skills among ninth-grade students at SMPN 1 Sepatan�Tangerang. The research employed pre-tests and post-tests to assess the impact of
The Wizard Liz’s videos. The hypothesis was evaluated using the Mann-Whitney
test, with a significance level set at 0.05. Post-test results showed a significance
value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.00, which is below the 0.05 threshold. This indicates that
the null hypothesis (H0)—which asserts no significant difference in listening skills
between students using The Wizard Liz’s videos and those not using them—was
rejected. The findings confirm that The Wizard Liz’s videos significantly improve
listening skills among the students. This study demonstrates that multimedia
resources, such as YouTube videos, can be valuable in enhancing language skills
and facilitating more effective learning experiences
