Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan membaca permulaan yang
dialami siswa kelas I, faktor eksternal yang menjadi penghambat kesulitan
membaca permulaan siswa kelas I dan cara guru dalam mengatasi kesulitan
membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas I di SD Negeri Batuceper 1 Kota Tangerang.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan
pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes, observasi, wawancara dan
dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 10 siswa di kelas
I C SD Negeri Batuceper 1 Kota Tangerang yang masih mengalami kesulitan
membaca permulaan diantaranya masih kesulitan melafalkan huruf konsonan,
belum lancar membaca kata dan kalimat sederhana yang terdapat gabungan huruf
konsonan, menghilangkan huruf saat membaca, tidak menggunakan intonasi yang
benar dan tidak memperhatikan tanda baca saat membaca. Adapun faktor eksternal
penyebab siswa mengalami kesulitan membaca permulaan yaitu faktor lingkungan
sekolah, lingkungan rumah, motivasi dari guru dan orang tua. Cara guru dalam
mengatasi kesulitan membaca permulaan siswa yaitu dengan menggunakan buku
khusus membaca permulaan dan menggunakan metode pembelajaran khusus untuk
membaca permulaan seperti metode pengenalan huruf dan metode menulis di udara
