Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan penggunaan model
pembelajaran discovery learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks
eksplanasi pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Citra Islami dengan metode penelitian quasi
eksperimen dan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group. Subjek populasi
dalam penelitian adalah siswa sebanyak 46 siswa yaitu kelas VIII A sebanyak 23
siswa sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII B sebanyak 23 siswa sebagai kelas
eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan skala teks eksplanasi sebagai
data utama dengan didukung lembar soal pretest dan postest. Hasil uji hipotesis
pretest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menggunakan SPSS dengan uji
independent samples t test diperoleh nilai signifikan sebesar 0,003 < nilai sig 0,05
maka H1 diterima artinya terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery
learning terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi. Hasil uji hipotesis postest
kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menggunakan SPSS dengan uji independent
samples t test diperoleh nilai signifikan sebesar 0,000 < nilai sig 0,05 maka H1
diterima artinya terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning
terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Citra
Islami.
